Welcome to BBK9

Hello everyone! Welcome to Battle Bridge Canine! We are a balanced dog training company based in Newton Grove, NC minutes from Benson and I40. We are less than as hour from Raleigh, Garner, Cary, and Fayetteville.

We offer a wide variety of programs to fit the needs to most owners and their pets.

Want to be fully involved in every aspect of your dogs training? We’ve got private lessons. Prefer someone else to do the initial training to break the bad behaviors or are you dealing with a pretty severe behavior problem with your dog? Our board and train programs would be a good fit for you! Or if you prefer to learn in a group setting, we have just recently started offering group lessons. Looking for training for a service dog, therapy dog, scent work, or any other specialized area? Check out our custom board and train program.

Our training is relationship based with a balanced approach. We want to create a relationship and bond with your dog while they are training with us. This gives us a chance to get to know your dog, their quirks, and their personality inside and out. Every good dog trainer should be striving to build a bond with your pup! By building a relationship, we are better able to adjust our methods to where the dog needs us. You will never see a “one size fits all” mentality here!

Once you train with us, we want to stay up to date on how your pup is progressing! If any problems were to arise after training, we are only a phone call or text away. For board and train clients, we never have a problem meeting up at your home after the initial training has been done to problem solve any stubborn behaviors. Our goal is not only to train your dog, but to train you as well! Your dog will only ever be as well behaved as you are skilled enough to keep them. We want to bridge the gap between you and your dog!

Who am I?

My name is Caitlyn and I am the owner and trainer here at BBK9! My wonderful husband, Dalton helps me with a lot of the maintenance and finances that go into running this business.

I have been always been super interested in the animal field, taking every opportunity I could to learn more! Initially, I thought I wanted to be a vet. After shadowing at a local vet hospital in high school, I quickly realized that I was much more interested in the behavior side of animals rather than the medical side.

While in high school, I spent countless hours reading and watching any kind of dog content I could get my hands on. Training, behavior, body language, breeds. I loved it all and craved learning. I also was able to get practice training my own dogs as well as family members and friends dogs.

After graduating high school, I went straight to “doggy collage” at Highland Canine for six months. Throughout my time there, I got tons of hands on experience in so many different avenues. It really helped give me a knowledge and experience boost! I am proud to say that I ended up graduating top five in my class!

Once I graduated Highland, I started working at a large boarding facility for four years. Throughout my time there, I got tons of experience with handling all different types of dogs and continued building my knowledge of body language and customer service since I was a shift lead in the daycare department. Throughout the four years that I worked there, I also continue my journey as a trainer by training part time on the side.

I officially was able to quite my full time job in March and opened my business in June of this year. So far, it has been a wonderful experience. All of my clients have been awesome and each and every one of their dogs has taught me something new!

I will be forever grateful to them for trusting me with their pups!

Now why did I decide to create a blog?

I LOVE sharing information and teaching, so I often times catch myself wanting to write super long posts on Facebook and Instagram. But let’s be honest. Not many people on social media are looking for super long posts that take time to read. Most people want to see cute photos or informative posts that are quick and to the point. So I figured, why not start here? Why not have a specific place where I can type out longer posts.

I wanted to use this as a platform to write about training, new studies, and any other topics that may pop up and interest me. Here are some ideas of topics I would like to cover:

  • Cooperative Care : Training for Basic Maintenance Needs

  • Body Language : How to Prevent Unnecessary Altercations and Accidents

  • The Puppy Basics : What Should You Be Teaching Your Puppy?

  • Different Training Methods : The Science of Training Dogs

  • Client Spotlights : Introducing Some of Our Previous Clients and Their Results

  • Car Safety for Your Pup

  • What Exactly is Socialization? Dog parks and Daycares

These are just to name a few! If you have any ideas on topics you would like to be covered, feel free to let me know!

I look forward to creating a community of likeminded individuals who enjoy talking about dogs and training!
