Get To Know Us

My name is Caitlyn Parker, and I am the owner of Battle Bridge Canine.
I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember, and I still live up to that to this day. I was the kid who wanted to keep every animal I caught, and even managed to bring a few frogs and turtles to show and tell in elementary school. Even to this day, I own a wide variety of reptiles and my feathered children Kenai, the Quaker Parrot and Maggie the Moluccan Cockatoo.
I grew up in a home that always had dogs, German Shepherds tended to be our most popular pick. Lilly and Skye Bell were the first two dogs who really got me into training. Training those two was my passion and hobby. Every day when I got home from school, I was outside with them trying to teach them something new. My favorite trick I taught Skye was to open the fridge and retrieve a drink. I watched every YouTube video on dog training I could and read every training or breed book I could get my hands on. Trial and error was my best friend at the time, and I am grateful to Lilly and Skye for being so patient with me and helping me learn so much about behavior and training.
While in high school, I took every animal class I could and even shadowed at a local vets office. I loved getting to see how different breeds varied in personality, behavior and how they needed a different touch in handling. After graduating high school, I attended a 6 month course at Highland Canine where I was able to develop my skills and learn about different branches of dog training. I was able to cover everything from basic obedience and behavior modification, to training service dogs and multipurpose police dogs. After graduation, I knew dog training was what I wanted to do.
I started training on the side in 2019 while working full time a a very large boarding facility where I was able to earn more experience and certifications. I am now lucky enough to be living my dream by running my own business.

Our Training Methods

Our methods revolve around using a balanced approach to dog training. We will use all four quadrants of operant conditioning to ensure your dog has a full understanding of what we expect from them. Simply put, we create a solid foundation for your dog, reward the good, correct the undesired behaviors, and give them better and healthier outlets. We don’t want there to be any guess work for your dog when it comes to problem behaviors. We want them to know exactly what we expect from them to alleviate as much confusion for them as possible.

You will not find a one size fits all program here. We tailor our training to what your dog needs most at every different moment in training. All of our programs focus on building a relationship, clear communication, and fair expectations.

Clear communication, engagement, and structure are key elements to training!

Once your dog has a foundation and understanding of desired behaviors, we reinforce all training cues via training collars. Slip leads, prong collars and/or e-collars are the three you will see most commonly used during our training. We will go over in great detail with you why and how we use specific tools at your consultation.
